EPPING, N.H. (June 5, 2023) – Despite multiple attempts to dry the race track Monday morning, persistent rain showers and continued cold temperatures made completing the NHRA New England Nationals today impossible. New England eliminations will be contested during qualifying for this weekend’s NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn.
The plan is below:
Qualifying Session No. 1 Friday: Bristol Qualifying Session One.
Qualifying Session No. 2 Friday: Bristol Qualifying Session Two and Epping Eliminations Round 1.
Qualifying Session No. 3 Saturday: Bristol Qualifying Session Three and Epping Eliminations Round 2.
Between Qualifying Sessions 3 and 4: Epping Semifinals (does not count for Bristol qualifying).
Qualifying Session No. 4 Saturday: Bristol Qualifying Session 4 and Epping Finals.
Because of weather, Epping qualifying was shortened to only two rounds. Shawn Langdon leads Team Kalitta as the No. 2 qualifier in the Kalitta Air Bounty Hunter Toyota dragster entering New England Nationals eliminations. He will race Tony Schumacher in the first round.
J.R. Todd is the No. 8 qualifier in his DHL Toyota Funny Car. The 2018 Funny Car champion will race Cruz Pedregon in the first round.
Doug Kalitta will lead the Mac Tools Toyota team into eliminations as the No. 12 qualifier. Kalitta will race Leah Pruett when eliminations begin.
