YPSILANTI, MI (February 28, 2022) — Over the past year Kalitta Motorsports has been supporting A Kid Again to make a difference for the nonprofit organization that fosters hope, happiness and healing for children facing life-threatening conditions and their families. Kalitta Motorsports’ support at NHRA national events over the past year has helped A Kid Again further their mission of giving families the opportunity to take a time out from illness by attending ongoing Adventures together while they work through significant medical situations.
“We have enjoyed hosting families for A Kid Again and look forward to hosting even more people in 2022,” said Chad Head, Kalitta Motorsports general manager. “Being able to see the smiles and have the families meet out drivers, get into race cars and watch the races has been a real pleasure for everyone at Kalitta Motorsports. This program has been embraced by our team and our sponsors and we are thrilled to see the impact we have been a small part of making for A Kid Again across the country.”
When the relationship started a year ago A Kid Again had two families enrolled in the state of Michigan with no plans to launch a chapter until late 2023. By July, A Kid Again had enrolled more than 550 families and officially launched a Michigan chapter. Since that time, A Kid Again has more than doubled family enrollment to nearly 30,000 people across 47 states.“A Kid Again is thankful to Kalitta Motorsports and their sponsors for helping further our mission by providing this amazing experience that gives our families a brief time out from their conditions. We look forward to bringing our families back to the races and seeing all the smiles, joy, and fun. Team Kalitta and the drivers help us create memories for our families that will last a lifetime.” said Oyauma Garrison, A Kid Again President and CEO.Two young racers were inspired by the Kalitta Motorsports program in 2021. Keegan Beverly and Caden Casner both volunteered time and donated race winnings to A Kid Again. The team hosted Keegan at the NHRA Norwalk Nationals and Caden met A Kid Again participants at the races and made an additional donation.
