CLEVELAND, Ohio (June 22, 2023) – Team Kalitta’s Shawn Langdon once had a decision to make: play college baseball or make his racing career full time. His decision is well known, but today, the two worlds from his high school years intersected when the 2013 NHRA Top Fuel champion threw out the ceremonial first pitch at today’s Cleveland Guardians game. The NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series resumes tomorrow at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals June 23-25, 2023 in Norwalk, Ohio.

Langdon’s appearance at Progressive Field was included in his day-long media activities promoting this weekend’s race. He visited both the FOX and NBC television affiliates for interviews promoting the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals, but the first pitch at the Oakland A’s vs. Cleveland Guardians game was the main event. From the top of the pitcher’s mound, the California native threw a strike much to the delight of an impressive mid-day Guardians crowd.
“It was a great experience, and the Guardians people were great,” the Kalitta Air Bounty Hunter driver said. “I’d never been to that stadium, and it’s awesome. It felt great to get the ball across the plate because last time I did it, at the Oakland A’s game last year, I didn’t exactly get it across the plate so it was nice to do it better today. Thanks to the Guardians for making it possible.”
