Team Kalitta Qualifying Results – Atlanta; Kalitta and DeJoria claim No. 1 Qualifying Positions in Top Fuel and Funny Car

For the first time in the legendary history of Kalitta Motorsports, Team Kalitta nitro racers qualify No.1 in their respective classes at the same event. Team Kalitta racers also now currently hold elapsed time and speed track records at Atlanta Dragway in both nitro classes (Kalitta, both elapsed time and speed in Top Fuel, DeJoria, elapsed time in Funny Car, and Worsham, speed in Funny Car) –

Doug Kalitta – Driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster:

Q1: 3.799 sec. at 325.30 mph (Two bonus points for second quickest of the session)
Q2: No time; Did not run (NHRA deemed track conditions became unsafe due to falling temperatures and dew point)
Q3: 3.732 sec. at 328.86 (Elapsed time and speed track records; Three bonus points for quickest of the session)
Q4: 3.737 sec. at 326.79 mph (Three bonus points for quickest of the session)

No. 1 Qualifier

– Kalitta qualifies No. 1 for the third time this season (Pomona, Calif. and Phoenix). His No. 1 spot in Atlanta is his first at Atlanta Dragway and the 39th of his 17-year Top Fuel career. Kalitta has two event wins in Atlanta (2006 and 2005).

Alexis DeJoria – Driver of the Patrón XO Café Toyota Camry Funny Car:

Q1: 4.229 sec. at 265.53 mph
Q2: 4.012 sec. at 313.95 mph (Elapsed time track record; Three bonus points for quickest of the session)
Q3: 6.781 sec. at 100.26 mph
Q4: 7.681 sec. at 89.06 mph

No. 1 Qualifier

– DeJoria qualifies No. 1 for the first time in her Nitro Funny Car career.

Del Worsham – Driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car:

Q1: 4.136 sec. at 309.84 mph
Q2: 4.014 sec. at 320.05 mph (Speed track record; Two bonus points for second quickest of the session)
Q3: 7.040 sec. at 91.08 mph
Q4: 7.289 sec. at 89.05 mph

No. 2 Qualifier

J.R. Todd  – Driver of the Optima Batteries/Advance Auto Parts Top Fuel Dragster:

Q1: 3.794 sec. at 323.66 mph (Three bonus points for quickest of the session)
Q2: No time; Did not run (NHRA deemed track conditions became unsafe due to falling temperatures and dew point)
Q3: 3.777 sec. at 323.66 mph (One bonus point for third quickest of the session)
Q4: 6.779 sec. at 98.18 mph
