Team Kalitta Qualifying Report – Phoenix; Kalitta Claims Second Consecutive No. 1 Qualifying Position to Begin Season

CHANDLER, Ariz., (Feb. 22, 2014) – Doug Kalitta, driver of the 10,000-horsepower Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, will once again begin Sunday’s eliminations in the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series from the No. 1 qualifying position. Two weeks ago, Kalitta led the way in time trials at the season-opening event in Pomona, Calif., and he will do the same tomorrow in Phoenix by way of a 3.735-second, 327.74-mph qualifying pass. Alexis DeJoria, driver of the Patron XO Cafe Toyota Camry Funny Car, leads the way for Team Kalitta’s Funny Car contingent in the No. 4 (4.048 sec., 309.27 mph) starting spot.

Sunday’s eliminations beginning at 11:00 a.m. (MT)

Connie serves as crew chief on the OPTIMA Batteries Top Fuel dragster.
