Team Kalitta Qualifying Report – NHRA Kansas Nationals – Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 23, 2015) – Kalitta Motorsports, the nitro-fueled, four-car NHRA drag racing team based in Ypsilanti, Mich., has completed qualifying for the NHRA Kansas Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka. Results and quotes follow.

Please note: the fourth qualifying session was cancelled due to weather.

J.R. Todd – Driver of the Kalitta Air Top Fuel Dragster:

  • Q1: 3.759 sec., 328.60 mph (One bonus point for the third quickest run of the session.)
  • Q2: 6.982 sec., 92.71 mph
  • Q3: 4.851 sec., No mph recorded

No. 4 Qualifier

Doug Kalitta – Driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster:

  • Q1: 3.859 sec., 259.01 mph
  • Q2: 5.356 sec., 131.50 mph
  • Q3: 3.786 sec., 316.90 mph

No. 12 Qualifier

Alexis DeJoria – Driver of the Patrón XO Café Incendio Toyota Camry Funny Car:

  • Q1: 8.423 sec., 83.16 mph (One bonus point for the third quickest run of the session.)
  • Q2: 3.994 sec., 255.92 mph
  • Q3: 4.022 sec., 314.17 mph

Del Worsham – Driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car:

  • Q1: 4.101 sec., 312.42 mph
  • Q2: 4.013 sec., 309.98 mph

Doug Kalitta, driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster: “We had a solid pass in what ended up being the last qualifying session of the weekend,” said Kalitta. “We have a tough challenger in round one, but I am confident in Jim Oberhofer’s set-up and the conditions that we look to have.”

J.R. Todd, driver of the Kalitta Air Top Fuel Dragster: “It is great to qualify in the top half,” said Todd. “(Dave) Connolly is a tough draw in round one, but the “Radman” will have the Kalitta Air ride tuned-up and ready to go.”

Del Worsham, driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car: “You never like to run a teammate in the first round,” said Worsham. “We know what that car is capable of, and we are going to look to guide this DHL Camry around it.”
