Team Kalitta Qualifying Recap – Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals – Atlanta COMMERCE, Ga. (May 13, 2016) – Kalitta Motorsports, the nitro-fueled, four-car NHRA drag racing team based in Ypsilanti, Mich., has completed qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia. Doug Kalitta – Driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster:
Q1: 3.845 sec., 318.17 mph
Q2: 3.731 sec., 328.70 mph (Three bonus points for the quickest run of the session.)
Q3: 3.846 sec., 321.81 mph (One bonus point for the third quickest run of the session.)
Q4: 3.797 sec., 324.51 mph (One bonus point for the third quickest run of the session.)

No. 1 Qualifier

NOTE: This is Kalitta’s 45th career no.1 qualifier and second in three years at Atlanta Dragway. His 3.731 elapsed time reset his own Atlanta Dragway track record. Kalitta has now qualified in the top two in five of the first seven races of the season. He also takes over the points lead, as he leads B. Force by eight points heading into raceday.
