Team Kalitta Qualifying Recap – NHRA SpringNationals – Houston

HOUSTON (April 30, 2016) – Kalitta Motorsports, the nitro-fueled, four-car NHRA drag racing team based in Ypsilanti, Mich., has completed qualifying for the NHRA SpringNationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Houston. Results and quotes follow.

Doug Kalitta – Driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster: Q1: 3.811 sec., 321.42 mph Q2: 3.743 sec., 324.36 mph (Two bonus points for the second quickest run of the session.) Q3: 6.284 sec., 108.87 mph Q4: 3.896 sec., 316.08 mph

No. 2 Qualifier

J.R. Todd – Driver of the SealMaster Top Fuel Dragster: Q1: 7.529 sec., 98.86 mph Q2: 3.889 sec., 300.53 mph Q3: 6.158 sec., 106.95 mph Q4: 4.646 sec., 165.11 mph

No. 12 Qualifier

Alexis DeJoria – Driver of the Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car: Q1: 3.980 sec., 319.82 mph Q2: 3.910 sec., 324.90 mph (Two bonus points for the second best run of the session.) Q3: 4.009 sec., 315.49 mph (Three bonus points for best run of the session.) Q4: 4.035 sec., 316.23 mph

We qualified in the top two again, and ran good in the conditions we are going to have in the morning. I am confident in our chances to repeat and know we have what it takes to go four rounds tomorrow.”

J.R. Todd, driver of the SealMaster Top Fuel Dragster: “We have been trying some new parts in this SealMaster machine this weekend at the SpringNats and we have learned a ton. I would have liked to have made a couple more clean passes, but we know what we have now and I look forward to eliminations.”

Del Worsham, driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car: “It is hot out here, but the DHL Toyota Camry had a good run in the heat and we should have something for them tomorrow.”
