Qualifies: 1st – Kalitta grabs the No. 1 qualifying position for the fourth time in the first 11 events of the 2013 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. It marks the 35th time Kalitta will start from the top spot in his 16-year Top Fuel career.

Doug Kalitta, driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster: 
“We’re really happy to be low qualifier here in Epping. I’m really proud of my Mac Tools guys. They’ve given me a great car again. We were trying a few things today and didn’t run quite as well as we did Friday, but we’ll have our Mac Tools ready to race tomorrow. I’m really hoping we can run well tomorrow in honor of Tammy (Oberhofer).”
 
This week the team led by Conrad “Connie” Kalitta lost a dear family member, Tammy “O” Oberhofer. Tammy succumbed to cancer June 18, 2013 after fiercely battling the disease for over a year. Tammy, husband Jim “O” (crew chief on the Kalitta-driven Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster), and daughter Ashley have been an integral part of the Kalitta Motorsports family for 30 years. Tammy, first serving as the team’s public relations representative and most recently as the team’s office manager, will be dearly missed.
