Rain Forces NHRA to Postpone NHRA SpringNationals to Monday

BAYTOWN, TX (May 23, 2021) — The NHRA SpringNationals were unable to be completed today from Houston Raceway Park outside of Houston, Texas. The event was able to get the majority of the first round of Top Fuel completed with Kalitta Motorsports Top Fuel driver Shawn Langdon winning his first round match-up over Josh Hart. Langdon and the DHL Kalitta Air Top Fuel dragster team will square off with Justin Ashley in the second round of racing tomorrow.Langdon’s Top Fuel teammate Doug Kalitta racing the Mobil 1 TRD Top Fuel dragster was half of the lone pair of Top Fuel dragsters who did not get to race before the rain moved in.

Persistent showers plagued the race track forcing NHRA officials to postpone racing action until tomorrow when there is a more favorable forecast. The NHRA has not released an official schedule but Kalitta should be in the first pair of race cars to take the track when racing resumes. The final pair of Top Fuel dragsters will lead into the first round of Funny Cars, featuring a marque match-up between J.R. Todd and the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car and John Force. The first round of Pro Stock will be run immediately after Funny Car followed by the second round of all professional classes.
