LAS VEGAS (April 1st, 2016) – Del Worsham, driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car, will expand his relationship with Kalitta Motorsports and relive his BMX bike days. Kalitta Motorsports is pleased to announce the expansion to the Pro Stock Motorcycle class with Worsham driving the Kalitta Air ride.
Worsham will look to become the first driver to win a race and a championship in three different pro classes and the first to earn championships in two classes in the same season.
“We were not sure if NHRA was going to go for it,” said Worsham. “But when they got on board, we started getting things prepared. I could not be thrilled to attempt to drive two machines in the same weekend for the remainder of the season. We are behind the eight-ball to start the season by missing one race, but I am confident that the entire Kalitta team can produce the horsepower necessary to get wins.”
One of the leaders of Kalitta Motorsports agrees with those words.
“Del came to me with this idea and I thought it was a great one,” said Jim Oberhofer, Vice President of Operations, Kalitta Motorsports. “He works best under pressure and what could be better than two driving jobs. Team Kalitta has been looking to expand and I think this is the best possible opportunity.”
Worsham will debut the Kalitta Air Motorcycle at the series’ next race, the 4-Wide Nationals. The crew chief and remainder of the crew will be unveiled at that event.
