POMONA, Calif. (November 5, 2013)— The 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Series comes to a close this weekend at the 49th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., and Alexis DeJoria and the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car team are looking to end the season on a strong note and possibly pick up their first win.
The team has seen steady progression in the car’s performance over the last several races. At the previous race in Las Vegas, Team Patrón raced their way to the semi-final round taking out two veteran teams, including one that was vying for the Championship, proving that Team Green is not to be taken lightly. This weekend, they’re hoping to go rounds again, and hopefully pick up that elusive first win.
“We’re wrapping up a good season,” said DeJoria, who has powered her Patrón Toyota Camry to four semi-final finishes so far this year. “I wouldn’t call it a great season, but I would call it a good one. We’ve made a lot of headway- especially these past few months. Tommy [DeLago, crew chief], Glen [Huszar, co-crew chief], and the whole team have been working so hard all year to make this car consistent. I’m really looking forward to next year and applying everything we learned this season. Hopefully this weekend we’ll qualify well, go some rounds and finish off on a good note.”
Alexis DeJoria and the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car team begin qualifying for the Auto Club NHRA Finals at 2PM PST on Thursday, November 7. Prior to the race weekend, DeJoria and husband Jesse James, of West Coast Choppers fame, will appear on the nationally syndicated radio talk show Loveline with Dr. Drew on Wednesday, November 6 from 10:15 PM to 11:00 PM PST. On Thursday, the couple will be live on the air with the Kevin and Bean show at the world famous KROQ studios at 8:05 AM PST. For more information, please visit www.alexisdejoria.com
