POMONA, Calif. (November 5, 2013)— The 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Series comes to a close this weekend at the 49th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., and Alexis DeJoria and the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car team are looking to end the season on a strong note and possibly pick up their first win.

The team has seen steady progression in the car’s performance over the last several races. At the previous race in Las Vegas, Team Patrón raced their way to the semi-final round taking out two veteran teams, including one that was vying for the Championship, proving that Team Green is not to be taken lightly. This weekend, they’re hoping to go rounds again, and hopefully pick up that elusive first win.

“We’re wrapping up a good season,” said DeJoria, who has powered her Patrón Toyota Camry to four semi-final finishes so far this year.  “I wouldn’t call it a great season, but I would call it a good one. We’ve made a lot of headway- especially these past few months. Tommy [DeLago, crew chief], Glen [Huszar, co-crew chief], and the whole team have been working so hard all year to make this car consistent. I’m really looking forward to next year and applying everything we learned this season. Hopefully this weekend we’ll qualify well, go some rounds and finish off on a good note.”

YPSILANTI, Mich., (Nov. 5, 2013) – Mac Tools, a worldwide leader in the automotive tool and equipment business, and Ypsilanti, Michigan-based Kalitta Motorsports, a Top Fuel and Funny Car professional drag racing team competing in the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association), announced today that they will continue to fly the red, yellow, and white colors of Mac Tools as the primary sponsor on the Doug Kalitta-driven Top Fuel dragster through the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

For over two decades, Mac Tools has been a partner of Kalitta Motorsports in the capacity of either primary or associate sponsor. The famed and record-setting “Big Red” Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster driven by Doug Kalitta has rocketed down NHRA national event drag strips at over 320 mph since 2001. After the economic crisis in the United States a few years ago, Mac Tools had to step aside as Kalitta’s primary sponsor at the end of the 2008 season, but remained an associate sponsor with the team and vowed to return primary sponsorship when possible. Mac Tools kept that promise and once again became the primary backer for Kalitta beginning at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis last fall.

“We are extremely honored to have our friends at Mac Tools racing with us for at least three more years,” Kalitta, a 49-year old resident of Ann Arbor, Mich. said. “Our partnership with Mac Tools is one of the best and most successful relationships in the history of NHRA drag racing. Brett Shaw (President, Mac Tools) and Tony Merritt, (Director of Motorsports) and the entire team at Mac Tools are like members of our family. We are honored to continue racing the Mac Tools dragster for them and all of the great Mac Tools Distributors throughout the world.”

“Mac Tools have been associated with Kalitta Motorsports and Connie (Kalitta, team owner and drag racing icon) for over 20 years, and we are proud to be extending our partnership with this legendary team for the next several years. This would not be possible without the success of our Distributors and support of our loyal customers. This partnership provides our company the opportunity to continue our momentum by increasing the exposure for our products, brand and to reach those who are interested in 'Being their own Boss' by becoming a Mac Tools Franchise,” said Brett Shaw, President of Mac Tools.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (October 30, 2013)— More than 100 free mammograms were performed this past weekend at the 13th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, thanks to a partnership between Alexis DeJoria Racing and the Nevada Health Centers.

The Nevada Health Centers parked their ‘mammovan,’ a mobile mammography unit in a semi-truck, behind the Alexis DeJoria Racing pit throughout the duration of the race weekend. From open-to-close, throughout all three race days, a continuous stream of women visited the mammovan to take advantage of the free mammography screenings.

Donations from Alexis DeJoria, driver of the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car, Kalitta Motorsports, Technicoat, and Rick Fischer from Fischer Honda enabled the mammovan technicians to be able to provide free screenings to any female over 40 attending the race- never having to turn a woman away because she did not have health insurance.  According to the Nevada Health Centers, it is estimated that 80% of the women who visited the mammovan during the weekend did not have health insurance.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (October 23, 2013)— Alexis DeJoria and the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car team made their fourth semi-final appearance of the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season at the 13th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday.

After qualifying in the No. 12 spot out of twenty-four competing Funny Cars, DeJoria faced NHRA Championship contender Matt Hagan in round one of eliminations. She powered her 10,000 horsepower Tequila Patrón hot rod to a 4.084-seconds at 312.71-mph run, advancing her to round two with lane choice over Ron Capps.

“I knew that first round matchup was going to be a tough one. Hagan was fighting for Championship points and we knew how important it was for him to go rounds today,” said DeJoria, who once again raced her pink-accented Patrón Toyota Camry in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. “I’ve been fighting a cold all weekend. It started with a really bad migraine and lingered the whole time I’ve been here, so I haven’t been feeling that great but I tried to stay focused and keep a clear head. Thankfully, I was able to cut a good light with my .036-second reaction time and our car outran his, allowing us to move on to round two.”

Quotables:

Alexis DeJoria, Driver

Qualifying went fairly well this weekend. We ended Friday night in the No. 10 spot with a nice 4.12 from Q2. Today started off on a good note with our 4.11 in Q3. That pass held up to be low ET of the round and moved us up to the ninth spot. By the time we were up to run in Q4 we had been bumped back to twelfth. The sun was starting to set at that time and there was some good shade on the track. We tried to step on it and really go after it, but unfortunately ended up smoking the tires and weren’t able to improve our position in the qualifying ladder. We face Hagan in round one of eliminations tomorrow- we’ll see what happens and hopefully, we’ll go some rounds on race day.
