J.R. Todd, driver, Red Line Oil/Kalitta Air Top Fuel Dragster: I am really excited that the work of the Red Line Oil guys went for good. That pass gave up right before the finish line and we still ran a 3.71. It was on track for a 3.70 or maybe even a 3.69. Although we drew a tough quad, the performance of the Red Line Oi team has proven that we will be ready for tomorrow.

Doug Kalitta, driver, Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster: I think the number five spot is a good place to be on Sunday. We had a solid pass in qualifying round two and the Mac Tools team is looking for more of the same come raceday.

Del Worsham, driver, DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car: We started with a solid pass and just went for it in second round, and it just didn't stick. The DHL Toyota Camry is ready to tackle this unique format tomorrow.

GNP 1511-11500

CHARLOTTE, NC. (March 24, 2015) – After a great post-race test in Gainesville, Kalitta Motorsports looks to rebound at a race that they put three cars in the finals last season: the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals.

The team also welcomes two-time and defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton to the NHRA family on Sunday.

Doug Kalitta, driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, returns to the zMax Dragway in the top five of the standings. Last season, he was a final round qualifier, and in 2010, he was the runner-up, but is looking for his first win at the unique race.

J.R. Todd, driver of the Red Line Oil/Kalitta Air Top Fuel dragster, is attending his second 4-Wide Nationals with the Kalitta Motorsports team. The 2014 event saw Todd take the early no. 1 lead and earn his first final round appearance with the team, as he finished in the third position. That finish returned him to the top ten in the point standings for the first time since 2008.

“We are very happy with the results that we saw during our Monday test in Gainesville,” said Todd. “With the gains the Red Line Oil/Kalitta Air team made there, we are excited to return to the Charlotte track and build on our 2014 performance.”

Todd will help welcome Crafton to the zMax Dragway. On Sunday, they will participate in the SealMaster Track Walk.

Del Worsham, driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car, also had a great test on Monday and looks to regain the consistency the team saw in the NHRA Mello Yello series’ first two events. Worsham, the winner of the 4-Wide Nationals during his Top Fuel Championship season in 2011, looks to become the first driver to win the race in the sport’s top two classes.

“It is always exciting to go back to the 4-Wides,” said Worsham. “When you face three cars versus one, there is always more excitement in the shut down area. After our test, the DHL Toyota Camry team looks to bounce back this weekend.”

Alexis DeJoria, driver of the Patrón XO Café Incendio Toyota Camry Funny Car, was the third member of the Kalitta Motorsports team to make the final round in 2014. Coming off of a great test and first round victory over defending Funny Car Champion Matt Hagan in Gainesville, DeJoria looks to pick up her first Wally of the new Mello Yello NHRA Series season.

The 4-Wide Nationals are the first race of the NHRA Mello Yello Series season that will be showcased live on ESPN. Sunday’s telecast starts at 2 PM/ET.

Matt Crafton 1CHARLOTTE, NC. (March 24, 2015)Kalitta Motorsports and J.R. Todd, driver of the Red Line Oil/Kalitta Air Top Fuel dragster, are excited to welcome Matt Crafton, two-time and defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion to the Charlotte 4-Wide Nationals and the SealMaster Track Walk this coming Sunday.

Todd and Crafton, along with Pro Stock drivers and brothers Shane and Jonathan Gray, will lead the SealMaster Track Walk at the Charlotte 4-Wide event. Fans are welcome to the event, which begins at 11:45am on Sunday.

We always like to welcome stars from other forms of motorsports to the track, said Todd. Crafton is a champion in another motorsport, so it is always interesting to get their perspective on what we do at the track.

Crafton, the only driver to win back-to-back championships in NASCARs Camping World Truck Series, is coming off of a dominating win in Atlanta. On Saturday, Crafton will compete in the seriesthird event of the season, the Kroger 250, at the historic Martinsville Speedway, a race he won just one year ago.

JR Todd Headshot

Im looking forward to attending the NHRA drag races this weekend on behalf of SealMaster, and Kalitta Motorsports, said Crafton. The 4-Wide Nationals are an experience like no other. To stand that close to the action and feel the 10,000-horsepower nitro engines go from 0 to 300mph in a four-wide configuration is insane. These guys are some of the best in the world.

Craftons team, Thorsport Racing, and SealMaster, the most trusted name in pavement maintenance for more than 40 years, are part of the ThorWorks Family of Brands. SealMaster is in its second season of sponsorship of Kalitta MotorsportsTop Fuel teams of Todd and Doug Kalitta.

ThorSport Racing was known as SealMaster Racing 15 years ago when Matt was hired to drive the No. 88 truck, says SealMaster spokeswoman Debbie Hufford, adding, He and SealMaster have a special history, and to this day hes a great brand ambassador. Were excited hes leading the SealMaster Track Walk with J.R. and championing our partnerships with the NHRA and Kalitta Motorsports.

Justin Verlander and Doug Kalitta Jersey Trade

GAINESVILLE,Fla. (March 15, 2015) J.R. Todd, driver of the Red Line Oil/Kalitta Air Top Fuel Dragster, and Alexis DeJoria, driver of the Patrón XO Café Incendio Toyota Camry Funny Car, picked up round one victories on Sunday in Gainesville to lead the Kalitta Motorsports four-car contingent.

Todd struggled through qualifying, but earned the number 14 qualifying spot. His draw was the number three qualifier, driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster, Doug Kalitta. It was a very even fight, but Todd came out on top with a 3.795 second pass. Kalitta followed closely at 3.809 seconds.

Happy to get a round win, but it was unfortunate that it had to be against my teammate, said Todd. The plan was to get the win after that, but the clutch problems that plagued us throughout the weekend came back to bite us in the second round. We are going to test and try to figure out our issues and come back better in Charlotte.

Kalitta remains in the top five in the point standings, while Todd is currently ninth.

The Mac Tools team was joined by Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander on Sunday. Verlander, who is in town for spring training, and Kalitta conducted a jersey trade on the the starting line.

In the first round, DeJoria outran the Matt Hagan, the defending Funny Car Champion and winner of the first two events. Her 4.145 second pass defeated Hagan, who ran a 5.312.

Del Worsham, driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car, was Kalitta Motorsportstop qualifier as he went into round one qualified second. However, he hazed the tires and was unable to get around Blake Alexander. This was Worshams first opening round loss of the season.

Unfortunately, the DHL Toyota Camry did not run the way we wanted it to in the first round, said Worsham. I am excited to test tomorrow and see if we can resolve our issues prior to the four-wide event in Charlotte.

The GatorNationals left Worsham still inside the top three in the point standings, while DeJoria ranks among the classestop ten.

All four Team Kalitta entries will test at the Auto Plus Raceway of Gainesville on Monday.

Through three events, Kalitta Motorsports’ four car effort has advanced to two final rounds. The next race for the team is the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte.
