Hillary Will and the KB Racing, LLC team ready to return to racing in 2008 at Pomona

POMONA, Calif., (Feb. 6, 2008)
– Rising NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series star Hillary Will, driver of the nitro-fueled, 8,000-horsepower KB Racing, LLC Top Fuel dragster, finds herself having trouble keeping any thoughts in her head these days except for one – Getting back out on the straight-line race track. She and her team will finally get their chance this weekend, Feb. 7-10, for the season-opening CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.).

The 2008 NHRA season will mark Will’s third full-time season in the sport’s quickest and fastest class. The semi-seasoned veteran is just as eager to get behind the wheel of her KB Racing, LLC dragster now as she was to take the controls of a drag racing car for the first time at age 16.

“During our pre-season test session last week, I went the fastest I have ever gone in my 12 years of racing,” Will, a 27-year old native of Fortuna, Calif., said. “It gives me a lot of confidence to know that we have a great-running car. We posted some awesome numbers. That will be a lot more significant once we make that translate into round wins on race day. I look forward to doing that this weekend.

“I know my whole KB Racing, LLC team is ready to race. It was a long off-season, and I just can’t wait to get back in the car and get some wins.”

The return to racing for Will also means a return to her home state. Will commented, “Being in my home state means that all my family is going to be there and it’s always great to see them. I hope we can give them and all of our fans a lot to cheer about in Pomona.”

Will’s quarter-mile racer will also be sporting a new look for 2008. Famed designer Coby Gewertz created a new paint scheme for her dragster that features a mostly black body with Will’s name as part of the design near the front of the car accented in red and gold.

A former standout in the Top Alcohol Dragster class, Will moved up to the quickest and fastest NHRA professional class, Top Fuel, in 2006 behind the wheel of a newly formed team owned by Las Vegas businessman Ken Black and managed by Kalitta Motorsports, the multi-car team founded and owned by drag racing icon Connie “the Bounty Hunter” Kalitta. She won her first Top Fuel event trophy in Norwalk (IHRA) in her rookie season and made her first NHRA final-round appearance in Memphis. She finished the season in tenth place in Top Fuel championship points in ‘06.

The CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals begins Thursday for the nitro-fueled classes with one qualifying session at 2:30 p.m. (PT). One more qualifying session follows on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Two more qualifying opportunities take place Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The top sixteen qualified cars will race Sunday in final eliminations beginning at 11:00 a.m.

All times and dates subject to change.

The CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals is the 1st of 24 national events in the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
